New Southwest Alabama Regional Airport coming to Thomasville

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) today announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has authorized a new regional airport in Thomasville, Alabama, for residents across the southwest region of the state. Local airports will merge to become the Southwest Alabama Regional Airport.

Auburn awards $2.8 million contract for airport runway extension

City officials expect that construction at Auburn Regional Airport, which will also realize a new underground storm water detention facility at the airport’s south end, should start in April 2020 and wrap by July 2020. The City received notice of a $2.8 million federal construction grant award on Sept. 27.
