Work is underway at Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport to construct an expanded area for passenger security checks, a new façade on much of the terminal, some heated sidewalks to keep snow and ice at bay, and an expanded hallway to the baggage claim area, which will serve as the setting for a sculpture of the 16th president.

The airport received $6.6 million in federal grants to complete the project. Revenue from the local passenger facility charge will cover 10% of the cost.
