It was 20 years ago that the newly created Albany County Airport Authority knocked down its 1962-era terminal and replaced it with a new one with three concourses and an attached five-story parking garage. The project was successful enough to attract more service as well as the attention of Southwest Airlines, which has grown into the airport’s largest carrier with a 42 percent market share. Airport officials are hoping history repeats itself with the $92 million in improvements announced Tuesday.
