The Appleton International Airport will get a federal grant of $4.7 million to pay for improvements, including 26,000 square yards of new taxiway, U.S. Rep. Mike Gallagher announced Thursday.

The airport will receive $2.3 million from the federal Airport Improvement Program, along with another $2.4 million in discretionary funding. The grants will be awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation on behalf of the Federal Aviation Administration.
